In the decade leading up to the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, the city of Paris launched a competition for the New Republican Glory Monument located in the eastern part of Paris. The Morris brothers won the competition, and their Republic Monument is now located in Republic Square. But Jules Dallow's project attracted Paris city councilors, who commissioned him to make bronze for the current Place de la Nation. The victory of the republic opened in 1899. As a fervent republican, Daluo chose to provide momentum for his monument and lead humanity towards a new golden age.
