Polybios was created by Austrian sculptor Alois D ü ll in 1899 and carved from marble. It is to commemorate the ancient Greek historian Polybius, known for his main work "History", which originally had 40 volumes and described the general history of Rome from the First Punic War to the destruction of Carthage and Corinth.
